This is my thirth time in rome. I have done the Vatican, the Forum, all the big ones. What I wanted this time was the smaller stuff and that is exactly what I got. A church with a Caravaggio that had maybe six people in it, a rooftop near Monti with no queue, and a bakery that had a line of actual Romans out the door at 8am. My girlfriend now thinks I am some kind of Rome expert and I am not correcting her hahah
Loads of spots and genuinely well chosen. My only note is that Rome is bigger than it looks on a map, so a few days I planned way too much because everything seemed close together. That is on me, not the map. The Trastevere section was the best part of our trip
Everything within walking distance of the Colosseum is a trap and we knew it, but we had no idea where to actually eat. The map sorted that in about ten seconds. Ended up in Testaccio twice
