Rhodes is known for its rich history, but one of the things that stood out to us most was just how beautiful and varied its beaches are. From long golden sands to dramatic rocky coves, the island offers a wonderful range of places to swim and relax.
During our time on Rhodes, beach days became a lovely way to unwind between exploring the old town and scenic villages. Some spots were lively and well equipped, while others felt quiet and more natural.
In this guide, we are sharing the beaches and coastal spots that impressed us the most and are absolutely worth visiting while exploring Rhodes.
Tsambika Beach 🏝️
Tsambika is one of the most beautiful beaches on the island, with a long stretch of soft golden sand and shallow, clear water.
Its calm sea makes it especially relaxing, and the nearby hill with its monastery offers a wonderful viewpoint over the bay. It is a lovely place to spend a full, easygoing day.
The view from the hill above is well worth the climb.
Anthony Quinn Bay 🌊
Anthony Quinn Bay is a striking rocky cove known for its incredibly clear turquoise water.
Surrounded by pine covered rocks, it is a beautiful spot for swimming and snorkeling. The dramatic setting makes it feel a little more adventurous than a traditional sandy beach.
Arriving early helps you enjoy this small, popular cove at its calmest.
St Paul's Bay (Lindos) 🏰
Below the acropolis of Lindos, St Paul's Bay is one of the most scenic swimming spots on the island.
The sheltered, almost circular bay has calm, clear water and a stunning setting beneath the ancient ruins. Combined with the beauty of Lindos itself, it is a truly memorable place.
It is a perfect spot to combine a swim with exploring the village.
Prasonisi ☀️
At the southern tip of the island, Prasonisi is a unique spot where two seas meet around a sandy isthmus.
Its open, windy setting makes it popular with windsurfers and kitesurfers, and the dramatic meeting of the waters is fascinating to see. It has a wild, natural atmosphere.
It is a great place for something a little different.
Elli Beach 🌅
In Rhodes Town itself, Elli Beach is a convenient and lively city beach.
With clear water and a relaxed promenade nearby, it is an easy place to enjoy a swim without traveling far. It is a great option if you are staying in or near the old town.
