Rhodes is one of those islands that offers a bit of everything. What stood out to us most is how easily it combines rich history with beautiful beaches, charming villages and scenic coastlines, all on one island.
During our time there, we found ourselves moving between medieval streets, quiet coves and hilltop views without ever traveling far. Here are the things that stood out to us the most and are absolutely worth doing while exploring Rhodes.
Explore Rhodes Old Town 🏰
The medieval Old Town of Rhodes is one of the most impressive we have seen, and wandering its streets feels like stepping back in time.
Surrounded by ancient walls, the cobbled lanes are full of history, small shops and hidden corners waiting to be discovered. It is easy to spend hours simply exploring without a set plan.
Going early in the morning or later in the evening rewards you with a calmer, more atmospheric feel.
Visit the Village of Lindos 🌅
Lindos is one of the most beautiful spots on the island, with its whitewashed houses climbing up toward an ancient acropolis.
The views from the top over the village and the sea below are absolutely stunning. Combined with the maze of narrow streets and the nearby bay, it is one of the highlights of any trip to Rhodes.
It is well worth arriving early to enjoy it before the busiest hours.
Relax at the Beaches 🌊
Rhodes has a wonderful range of beaches, from lively stretches of sand to quieter, more secluded coves.
The clear water and warm climate make beach days one of the easiest pleasures on the island. Whether you prefer organized beaches or a more natural setting, there is plenty of variety to explore along the coast.
It is worth trying a few different spots to find your favorite.
See the Valley of the Butterflies 🌿
The Valley of the Butterflies is a lush, green nature area that feels like a peaceful escape from the coast.
Following the shaded paths along streams and small waterfalls is a relaxing way to spend part of a day, especially in the warmer months. It is a lovely contrast to the beaches and historic sites.
The natural surroundings make it one of the more unexpected highlights of the island.
Enjoy the Sunsets and Coastal Views 🌞
Rhodes has some beautiful spots to take in the coastline, especially toward the end of the day.
From hilltop viewpoints to quiet stretches of shore, watching the light soften over the sea is a memorable way to end a day of exploring. These calm moments were some of our favorites on the island.
