Best Beaches in Malta: Our Favorite Coastal Spots 🌊

Malta may be known for its historic cities and beautiful architecture, but one of the things that stood out to us most was how incredible the coastline is. Across the island, you will find hidden coves, crystal clear swimming spots and beaches that all feel completely different from one another.

During our time in Malta, beach days quickly became one of the highlights of the trip. Some places were lively and social, while others felt quiet and almost untouched.

In this guide, we are sharing the beaches and coastal spots that impressed us the most and are absolutely worth visiting while exploring Malta.

Blue Lagoon 🏝️

The Blue Lagoon is probably Malta’s most famous swimming spot, and honestly, it lives up to the hype.

The water is unbelievably clear and the colors almost do not look real, especially when the sun hits the shallow areas. It is one of those places where you immediately understand why so many people visit Malta for the coastline alone.

We would definitely recommend going early in the morning if possible. The atmosphere feels much calmer before the area becomes busier later in the day.

Golden Bay ☀️

Golden Bay has a completely different atmosphere compared to some of Malta’s rocky swimming spots.

The sandy beach, warm light and open coastline make it feel more relaxed and spacious. It is also one of the best places on the island to stay for sunset, when the entire bay starts to glow in warm golden colors.

This felt like one of the easiest beaches to spend an entire afternoon without feeling rushed.

St Peter's Pool 🌿

One of the places that stood out to us most was St Peter's Pool.

Unlike a traditional beach, this natural swimming spot is surrounded by flat limestone cliffs where people relax and jump into the incredibly clear water below.

It feels more adventurous and raw compared to the larger beaches, which is exactly what makes it so memorable.

Għajn Tuffieħa 🌅

Għajn Tuffieħa quickly became one of our favorite beaches in Malta.

The walk down already gives you beautiful coastal views, and once you arrive, the beach feels more peaceful and natural compared to some of the busier spots on the island.

The surrounding cliffs and softer atmosphere make it one of the most scenic places for a slower beach day.

What Makes Malta’s Coastline So Special ✨

What we loved most about Malta is how different every beach and swimming spot feels.

Some places are dramatic and rocky, others feel calm and tropical. In one day, you can move between hidden coves, sandy beaches and cliffside swimming spots without traveling far.

That variety is what makes exploring Malta’s coastline so enjoyable.
