Kos is one of those Greek islands that makes beach days effortless. What stood out to us most is how many long, sandy beaches the island has, often with shallow, clear water that feels perfect for a relaxed day by the sea.
During our time on Kos, we found ourselves moving easily between lively beaches and quieter, more natural stretches of coast. Some spots were social and well equipped, while others felt calm and almost untouched.
In this guide, we are sharing the beaches and coastal spots that impressed us the most and are absolutely worth visiting while exploring Kos.
Tigaki Beach 🏝️
Tigaki is one of the most popular beaches on the island, known for its long stretch of soft sand and shallow, clear water.
The calm, gentle sea makes it especially relaxing, and there is plenty of space to settle in for the day. With beach bars and facilities nearby, it is an easy place to spend hours without needing to move far.
It is a great choice for a comfortable, easygoing beach day.
Paradise Beach ☀️
Paradise Beach, in the south of the island, is one of the most beautiful and well known spots on Kos.
The golden sand and turquoise water give it a genuinely tropical feel, and it is a lovely place to swim. It can get busier during peak hours, so arriving earlier helps you enjoy the calmer atmosphere.
The scenery alone makes it worth the visit.
Agios Stefanos 🏰
Agios Stefanos stands out for its beautiful setting, with clear water and views toward the small island of Kastri just offshore.
Nearby, the remains of an early Christian basilica add a touch of history to the scenery. The combination of swimming, views and a sense of place makes this one of the most memorable spots on the island.
It is a lovely area to combine a swim with a bit of exploring.
Marmari Beach 🌿
Marmari is another long, sandy beach on the north coast, with the same shallow, clear water that makes this side of the island so relaxing.
It feels a little more open and breezy, which can be refreshing on warmer days. There is a nice balance between organized areas and quieter stretches of sand.
It is a great option if you want space and a laid back atmosphere.
Kefalos Bay 🌅
Down in the southwest, the long beaches around Kefalos Bay offer some of the most scenic coastline on the island.
With wide sand, clear water and a dramatic setting, it is a beautiful area to spend the day. The views and open space make it feel a little more remote and special.
What Makes Kos's Beaches So Special ✨
What we loved most about Kos is how relaxed and accessible its beaches are.
Long stretches of sand, shallow clear water and a mix of lively and quiet spots make it an easy island for beach days. In a single trip you can move between social beaches and calm, natural shores without traveling far.
That variety is exactly what makes exploring Kos so enjoyable.
