During our time on Crete, beach days quickly became one of the highlights of the trip. Some spots were lively and easy to reach, while others felt remote and almost untouched.

Elafonisi 🏝️
Elafonisi is probably Crete's most famous beach, known for its soft pink tinted sand and shallow turquoise water.
The lagoon like setting feels almost tropical, and because the water stays shallow for a long stretch, it is one of the most relaxing places to wade and swim. It lives up to the reputation, especially in the softer morning light.
We would recommend arriving early, as this is one of the most popular spots on the island.
Balos Lagoon 🌿
Balos was one of the most striking places we visited on the entire island.
The wild lagoon, with its mix of white sand, shallow turquoise water and rugged surroundings, feels completely different from anywhere else. Reaching it takes a bit of effort, but the view as you approach from above is unforgettable.
It is one of those places that stays with you long after the trip.
Falassarna ☀️
Falassarna is a long, open sandy beach on the west coast, known for its wide space and beautiful sunsets.
The relaxed atmosphere and clear water make it an easy place to spend a full afternoon, and staying into the evening rewards you with some of the best sunset views on the island.
It felt like the perfect spot to slow down and unwind by the sea.
Preveli 🌴
Preveli is a unique beach where a palm lined river meets the sea, giving it a lush, almost exotic feeling.
The combination of golden sand, clear water and green surroundings makes it stand out from the more typical beaches. You can swim in the sea or follow the river inland through the palm forest.
It is one of the most scenic and distinctive spots on the south coast.
Seitan Limania 🌅
Seitan Limania is a dramatic narrow cove tucked between steep cliffs, with incredibly clear water.
The walk down is steep, but the reward is a stunning, sheltered swimming spot that feels hidden away from everything. It is more adventurous than a typical beach, which is exactly what makes it so memorable.
