During our time on Madeira, the viewpoints quickly became one of the highlights of the trip. Some were famous and easy to reach, while others were smaller stops we discovered unexpectedly along the way.

Pico do Arieiro 🌄
Pico do Arieiro is probably the most famous viewpoint in Madeira, and after visiting, we completely understood why.
Standing above the clouds while the mountain peaks stretch into the distance feels unreal, especially during sunrise. The changing light and moving clouds make the landscape look different every few minutes.
Even the drive towards the viewpoint is beautiful, with winding mountain roads and panoramic scenery the entire way.
Miradouro da Ponta do Rosto 🌊
Located on the eastern side of Madeira, this viewpoint offers a completely different atmosphere compared to the mountain peaks.
The cliffs here feel raw and dramatic, with the ocean stretching endlessly below. What stood out most to us was how open and untouched the landscape feels.
It is especially beautiful early in the morning when the light hits the cliffs and there are fewer people around.
Cabo Girão 🌿
Cabo Girão is one of the highest sea cliffs in Europe and easily one of the most impressive viewpoints on the island.
Looking down from the glass platform onto the coastline far below creates an incredible perspective of Madeira’s dramatic landscapes.
Although it is one of the more popular viewpoints, the scenery still feels impressive once you are there in person.
Miradouro dos Balcões ✨
This viewpoint offers a quieter and more peaceful experience compared to some of the larger scenic spots.
After a short walk through the forest, you arrive at a viewpoint overlooking deep valleys and mountain peaks covered in greenery.
What we loved most here was the calm atmosphere and how connected the viewpoint feels to nature.
